Shimming is carried out before equipment installation on its foundation , Shimming ensures that the equipment is properly leveled on its foundation. It is very important to check equipment elevation before placing it on its foundation , Equipment elevation is mentioned on the equipment drawings.
A Surveyor using a Theodolite checks to elevation and prepares a survey report.
